When your automobile’s windshield gets cracked and you must get it replaced there are two types of auto glass that are available to you - aftermarket and OEM, which leaves many owners questioning which option is the best choice.   Aftermarket Glass   Aftermarket glass is made by a company other than the original glass fabricator. Or, in some cases, made by the same company on a production line separate from the OEM manufacturer. Some aftermarket glass is similar in quality to OEM parts, but some of course are not. The cost savings for those paying for windshield replacements out-of-pocket is generally the main reason cited for the selection, but there is debate among those in the auto glass industry whether aftermarket glass is of equal quality to OEM glass.   Some automobile manufacturers require that their windshields with cameras…

In the Las Vegas and Henderson areas, the seal on your automobile’s windshield is just as important as the windshield itself; in fact one is quite useless without the other. A faulty seal can result in untold damage to your vehicle or, at best, be quite annoying. Unfortunately, this is a part of our autos that is all-too-often ignored - at least until it becomes painfully obvious that there’s an issue. At Clear Quality Auto Glass we know how important the integrity of your windshield is, so we want to share these steps for inspecting your windshield seal to determine its viability before it turns into a major problem.   In no particular order: Be observant - when parked in the sun after rain or a car wash do you notice any fog developing on the windows? If so, run…

Everyone has at least one reason for wanting their car windows tinted but deciding on exactly what to get and who to choose install it can get a little tricky. In Nevada, one of our biggest factors for deciding to tint is simply another attempt to do everything within our power to beat the summer heat, while others lean toward privacy reasons for wanting darker tint. From various shades & hues to the laws dictating what you can & cannot have, you have a couple of choices to make before you make this move.   Welcome to the Dark Side   The shade, or darkness, of tint is measured by the percentage of Visible Light Transmission (VLT%) & in Nevada this percentage is measured the overall visible light that is allowed through the combined factors of the glass & tint…

 Uncategorized,

While rust may not be the first thing you think about when considering the elements of Las Vegas and Henderson, it can be a huge problem for your automobile’s windshield if left untreated. The ‘groove’ that attaches your windshield to the rest of the car is made from metal, surprising I know, and because it isn’t somewhere we normally inspect, it can easily rust and lead to seriously dangerous conditions.   The Seal is the Deal!   If the windshield’s fitted groove is rusted, there’s more than a good chance that the overall seal has been compromised as well. While this can result in small annoyances such as decreased noise reduction or increased vibration detection, it can also lead to complete detachment, especially if in an unfortunate accident. This can have an adverse affect on airbag deployment as well as…

Get That Windshield Replaced and Avoid a Ticket

First, the good news: Nevada laws do not specifically mention windshield cracks. Now, the bad news: The law forbids driving vehicles with an obstructed view of the road. That's any crack that might block your view, almost anywhere on the windscreen and, without a specific definition, law enforcement has wide discretion deciding what constitutes an obstruction. More bad news: The feds are in on the game, federal regulations forbid windshield chips over 3/4-inch diameter or cracks closer than 3 inches to each other. Don't you just love bureaucrats? Yeah, thanks to them, you get to start every day tape measuring your windshield. That sounds like fun. You risk a police record, higher insurance rates and a court date, all of which will end up costing you a whole lot more than simply replacing the windshield. Everybody remembers our first lesson…

Window tinting adds long-term value to cars, trucks, RVs and vans. Window tinting is like buying sunglasses for your vehicle. You wouldn't go out in the bright Nevada desert sun without shading your eyes or protecting your skin, give your vehicles the same care. Glare reduces visibility and causes eye strain; reducing glare reduces accidents. (Of course, nothing can prevent all accidents and, if you hit that unlucky number, tinting film helps prevent flying glass fragments, decreasing the chance of injury for you and your passengers.) Drive more comfortably and more safely. Less light coming in lowers the interior heat, and, let's face it, Las Vegas, Henderson and neighboring towns are warmer in the winter than many places in the USA at the height of summer. Ease your air conditioner's workload; you'll get better gas mileage and that means you'll…

We all know what road hazards are: Inclement weather, distracted driving, debris - but one thing that we often overlook is that little crack on the windshield. Even if you’re not going far from home, if you commute close to work, or if you think it’s “not that bad,” it could still be a hazard just waiting to affect your driving.   Windshields Are Sensitive to Temperatures   The way that your windshield was initially manufactured means that it’s not going to just break because it’s cold outside. Think of it as a bulletproof shield against the elements. When you get a crack in the shield, you develop a weak point, which can be used against you. Temperatures drop drastically at night in Henderson, Las Vegas, and those rapidly-changing conditions could spell an end for your windshield.   When you…
